Facing Obesity was created out of a need that had not been met in our society. Millions of people suffer from the disease of obesity and severe obesity, yet there are very few if any support groups or resources for the family members or loved ones who support them. How’s that possible? Supporters fight battles that are hidden in plain sight. Conflicting feelings of wanting to protect your loved ones from society’s discrimination of fat shaming, lurking concerns for their health, quality of life issues, anger, shame, and trying to find ways to lovingly support them while taking care of their own mental, physical and emotional needs.
Dana understands this plight all too well. Her husband, Dr. James ”Butch” Rosser who’s a world-renowned surgeon has battled severe obesity most of his life. As a wife and author, Dana realized that the spouse or family member’s voice is often overlooked. Together they have traveled the world to empower and educate people about the effects of obesity on the entire family unit.
.
Dana’s mission is to create dialogue and a community that is encouraging for spouses and loved ones, where support is given, and ideas are shared.
